The world was horrified on September 11th as the tragic scope of this Nation's worst attack in history unfolded. Stunned disbelief, bitter outrage, and mind numbing grief held Americans hostage as their prayers for survivors went unanswered. Below is my tribute to the victims of this vicious attack as well as to the military men and women, now poised to extract justice.

The Reality of Home Ground
 
 A blistering fireball in the once balmy sky,
 Announced to the world that the time was now nigh,
 The reign of the dove, the sweet peace we once shared,
 Are memories only, for the sword is now bared.
 
 The arrows of hatred pierced deep to our soul,
 Bleeding and battered, we counted the toll.
 The wounds are so grievous, but we are no longer blind,
 To the evils of tyranny that seek only to bind.
 
 Tis time for the eagle, wings spread, wide and strong
 Heart heavy with the souls, of those killed by this wrong
 One tear of bereavement, he screams out his woe
 Before spanning the earth, in search of the foe
 
 Talons now bared, weapons drawn, cocked and ready
 His vision is sharp, resolve strong and steady,
 The glint in the eye is neither vengeance nor pity.
 It is justice for the cowards that trespass a great city.
