Excerpt from Home Ground - when reality hits...

He was shoving his way forward, getting into range of the transmitting camera. His voice was strong and sure. “Excuse me, Doctor.” He waved his hand towards the camera. “Excuse me, I’m Special Agent Rooles with the Central Intelligence Agency. You said you could not positively identify the basic toxin? Exactly why is that?”

The doctor looked startled that someone would dare question his Agency’s competence. BJ must have picked up on that nuance and began back-pedaling. “Sir, I’m sorry. That was not meant to be rude. There’s a reason I was asking. Have your people detected any cellular similarity to the clostridium botulinium toxin?”

The doctor stared for a long moment into the lens of the camera. “Yes, Agent Rooles, that is one of two possibilities currently being debated.”

BJ spoke hurriedly, voicing the question that had just popped into Bob’s mind as well. “What is the other possibility sir?”

“Anthrax.”
